Miriam Rod

About

Miriam was born in Cape Town and attended the Underwood Secretarial College, before starting her first job with Frank, Bernardt & Joffe Attorneys (1968).

After working for a few years, the travel bug bit and she and a friend decided to journey to London making it their base, from where they travelled across Europe. When funds began running low, she found a job as an au pair in London working therefor a few months. They travelled to Israel where both worked on a kibbutz, studying Hebrew half days as well as travelling and experiencing the country.

On Miriam’s return to South Africa, she once again worked for a law firm, this time Gorvy, Roup & Partners (1972).

Miriam joined the family business for a while working in the admin/accounting department.

The business was sold, and Miriam returned to her love of law, joining Kaminer, Kriger & Associates (2007).  There she successfully completed an online course in legal bookkeeping with the LawSociety.

She began working at Shields Attorneys in May 2018 - working as a P.A. and officemanager, where she experiences; “never a dull moment”.

Miriam is happily married (almost 42 years) and has two married sons, one living in Atlanta,USA and the other in Canberra, Australia. She is the proud grandmother of 3beautiful grandchildren.

Taking long walks, going to the beach, reading, watching tennis, cricket and rugby is but a few of her interest – She also relishes watching a good documentary.
